Portraits are an ideal memory and a timeless keepsake. Whereas photographs fade, and sketches seem impersonal, oil portraits have "texture" and capture the true sense of their subject.
I prefer to work from photographs rather than sittings, however all portraits are completely painted by hand and no copying techniques or photography techniques are used to reproduce them. Customers can send me a normal photograph by post, or a digital camera snapshot via email.
Portraits are painted in oils (unless otherwise requested) on canvas, my standard canvas size is 20 inches by 24 inches, however larger and smaller canvases can be produced.
I generally recommend that customers add a frame themselves to ensure they select one which matches the portrait's mounting location. However, if required I can have your portrait framed at minimal cost.
Similarly, for the sake of safety I prefer that customers collect finished pieces from my studio, although if this is not possible then they can be securely wrapped and sent via post.
